There has been a rash of Facebook virus or malware and spam links recently. The best way to think of Facebook is a HUGE costume party of a social gathering of meet and greet. You may know some people but not others. Some people may not look like their normal selves because they are in disguise. You would not give out your personal information to everyone there would you? Well the same happens virtually via your Facebook wall. One of your not so savvy FB friends clicks on a link “what would so and so say about you?” then it posts that same link to your wall, and you click on it, either cause you’re facebooking half asleep over morning coffee, or because it might be about the latest news story that is out there…like the death of Osama Bin Laden. Don’t do it! These links can go viral in a matter of a day. Instead navigate your cursor to the top right corner of such links and you will see options to ‘remove post,’ ‘report as spam,’ etc. Then you might even contact your friend and let them know they should do the same from their end but not by clicking on it, but instead using those removal options Facebook has put there. You can also like the page of “Facecrooks” who give frequent updates on scams, malware, and viruses.
